Audi India will launch the A8L with the 4.2-liter V8 TDI engine tomorrow in Mumbai. On the A8, the 4.2 TDI engine produces 345hp@4,000 RPM and 800Nm@1,750-2,750 RPM, making it the most powerful diesel variant in the A8 lineup.
It is driven via an 8-speed tiptronic transmission that distributes power via a Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.
The 4.2 TDI variant is sandwiched between the smaller 3-liter TDI variant and a 6.3-liter W12 petrol variant.
The 4.2 TDI variant is also more fuel efficient, under test conditions, compared to the smaller 3-liter. It has an electronically limited top speed of 250kph, breaking the 0-100 kph barrier in 5.6 seconds.
