Fiat Brazil has launched an automatic variant of the Fiat Punto for
the domestic market. Unlike the new generation of automatics which are
mostly double clutch boxes, this is a single clutch box much like a
manual with an automatic clutch.
The new Punto Sporting Dualogic is powered by a 1.8 16V engine E.torQ flex fuel engine that puts out 132 bhp. The gearbox has a new creep function which releases up to 3.5 Nm of torque even without the driver accelerating as the car moves along in first gear or reverse.
The gear ratios have improved and the transition is much smoother, according to Fiat. Thanks to the improvements the fuel consumption has reduced to 7.4 km/l in the city and 10.5 km/l on the highway.
The car also comes with sunroof, Blue & Me system with USB, climate control, leather seats and leather wrapped steering wheel, airbags and sensors for lighting, rain and parking.
Prices start at 61,965 Brazilian Real (approximately 16.64 lakhs INR).
