Mahindra Reva E2O electric vehicle was originally scheduled to be launched this year but Mahindra has overshot the launch date due to some undisclosed reasons.
The E2O is the first product after Mahindra acquired Bengaluru based Reva Electric Vehicles. Mahindra Reva’s official Twitter handle earlier messaged that the launch date has been postponed. Now in a reply to one of its followers, the twitter account stated that they are looking for an early 2013 launch, without being specific.
Earlier in May, Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group had tweeted that the EV will be launched in 2012, however there seems to be a sticky situation in getting the car out. Though the exact reason is unclear, the delay in launch could be attributed to an issue in getting the subsidy grants or may even be a last minute technical glitch.
The E2O is powered by a 39.4 bhp electric motor which derives its juice from a 48V battery pack which, according to the company, is imported from Hong Kong. The company’s official twitter handle also says that Mahindra is working on a battery leasing scheme.
The Mahindra Reva E2O is expected to priced under 6 lakh rupees.
